SolarTurtle is in the news again with our young Turtlepreneurs hitting the spotlight. Our first three Spark energy hubs have started trading in the greater East London area last month and the news has been picked up by Dispatch Live (East London published news paper). In the article our youngsters, Gcina Dzingwe and Ndileka Gleyi, were profiled.
In the Dispatch article you see the Spark Cart, our smallest energy hub that offers charging facilities and the sale of power banks and other small items. We are excited to announce that our Internet connectivityservice, through our Spark hubswill be launched soon.
In the article picture you also see Gcina holding a solar powerbank that we sell from these hubs. Each powerbank can charge 3-5 phones and power a light. The idea is that each of these micro-energy-hubs can serve a local community with basic electricity, in an easypackaged format in the form of power banks which they can utilize on-the-go or at home.
This is only the beginning however. In the effort to find new potential Turtlepreneurs, and also to do our part in skills transfer to local communities to bring awareness to renewable energy, SolarTurtle hosted a Training Course to the local East London informal community. The course not only covered the basics of solar energy but also good business practice principles. 19 People participated and received there certificate for completing the course. We will be building the next design iteration of the Spark range soon. The top candidates from this course will be the next potential Turtlepreneurs recruited to run these Spark hubs.

We are also expanding our software packages and will soon be offering e-learning functionality for our vendors as well. Watch this space, there is a lot more to come.

Correction: Article stated 17 people were part of the SolarTurtle training program; however 19 people participated and received their course certifications. We have also recruited one of these course participants into the Turtlepreneur team, as we had an opening to run one of our Spark hubs.
